Profile Head of a Bearded Man with a Second Figure
Red chalk on an irregularly cut sheet
On an irregularly trimmed sheet, a bearded man's head is drawn in profile facing right, with curling hair and beard worked in warm red chalk. Fainter chalk lines below and to the left lay in a second, more summarily sketched figure that is left largely unresolved. A later ink inscription runs along the lower edge and a small collector's mark appears at the upper left; neither was part of the transcribed material.

Bearded head in right profile
The principal study is the head of a man in right profile, the curling hair, moustache and beard drawn in red chalk with the features fully formed. The gaze is directed slightly downward. It occupies the upper right portion of the trimmed sheet.
Secondary sketched figure
Below and to the left, lighter red-chalk strokes indicate a second figure that is left largely unfinished, its forms harder to read. A later ink inscription along the bottom edge is present but is not transcribed here.
