Note on Leonardo's mirror-writing (later hand)
Latin annotation: this writing is reversed and must be read in a mirror
The recto of the second leaf carries a note in a later hand, written in Latin, warning the reader that the script of the notebook is reversed and must be read in a mirror ("NB. Haec scriptura inversa, & in speculo legenda est"). The remark refers to Leonardo's characteristic mirror-writing. It stands alone near the top of an otherwise empty leaf, whose text is supplied only by the catalogue caption.

Latin note: read this writing in a mirror
A later hand cautions that the notebook's script is reversed and must be read in a mirror. The remark points to Leonardo's habitual mirror-writing. It is written in Latin and is not in Leonardo's hand.
