Folio 79r of the Treatise on Painting, Part Two; the body left blank
This recto carries no drawing and no discourse: the writing area of the leaf is blank apart from structural marks of the book itself. At the foot stands the single word 'Meltius', a quire (gathering) signature that helped the binder keep the bound leaves in order, while a running head marks the second book of the treatise and the leaf is numbered 79. The page belongs to the Codex Urbinas, the posthumous compilation of Leonardo's notes on painting assembled by his pupil Francesco Melzi.
