Boundaries and species of shadow (chapters 564–574)
Entries treat the simple and compound primitive shadow and the boundaries of both, the shadow made when the light equals or the shadowed body exceeds the luminous, and how many sorts and species of shadow exist. They ask of how many sorts the primitive shadow is and what variety the derivative shadow has.
Motion and striking of the derivative shadow (chapters 575–583)
Later entries describe the shadow that moves faster than its shadowed body and the derivative shadow that is much slower than the primitive, one equal to it, and one remote from it. They cover the nature or condition of shadow, the augmented shadow, whether the primitive shadow is more powerful than the derivative, the motions of shadows, and the striking of the derivative shadow with its conditions.
