Boundaries of bodies and blurring near the eye
Early rubrics treat the terminations of opaque and shadowy bodies and which are first lost from perception. They explain why boundaries seen by one and the same pupil do not fall in one place, and why a body nearer the eye has more confused edges.
Highlights, reflexes, and the shading of spheres
Further entries cover highlights that shift as the viewer moves, which parts of a sphere are most and least illuminated, and the proportion between luminous parts and their reflexes.
