The upper half of the sheet is dominated by a small circle from which straight lines radiate outward in every direction to form a many-pointed star, while two long lines drop from beneath it and converge to a single point far below. A smaller circle at the left is divided into sectors by chords. The figure is consistent with Leonardo's studies of how light or visible images spread from a body and gather into a cone toward the eye, though the accompanying blocks of his mirror-writing are not transcribed here.

Star-burst of rays around a central circle
A small ringed circle sits high on the page, and straight lines shoot out from it in all directions to build a many-pointed star. The pattern reads as a study of radiation, the way light or the images of things are pictured as spreading uniformly outward from a source.
Divided circle and converging pencil of lines
At the left a smaller circle is cut into sectors by chords and radii. Below the central circle two long, nearly vertical lines run down and meet at a single point, forming a very acute pyramid or cone.
