Bastions and towers in perspective, with a round form measured in braccia
The upper half of the folio is filled with rapid pen sketches of military architecture: bastions and round towers with crowning galleries, angled walls seen in perspective, and a bird's-eye plan at the upper left. A separate figure, editorially read as a mill-wheel or millstone (uncertain), is labelled with two measurements, 3 1/2 braccia and 10 braccia. Four lines of mirror writing run along the lower edge of the sheet, and an Institut de France stamp is impressed at the right.
