Excavator gear: coupling, jibs and swing geometry
A mechanical joint, a pair of jibs, and diagrams for the arm of a digging crane
The page groups three studies for excavating machinery. At the top a mechanical coupling or joint is drawn in perspective; below it two fan-shaped diagrams set out the working geometry of a digging arm, whose boom — the falcone or jib — swings between marked points, so that (per the note) a strikes and n carries the load to c. A pair of such jibs is sketched at the lower right.

Mechanical coupling (giunto)
A short mechanism is drawn in perspective at the top of the sheet, framed as a mechanical joint or coupling. It reads as a fitting that links one moving member to another in the larger digging apparatus.
Swing geometry of a digging jib (falcone)
Two fan-shaped diagrams lay out the arc through which a boom sweeps, with radiating lines to points marked n, a and c. The note explains the action: a batte e n porta in c col falcone — a strikes and n carries the load to c by means of the jib.
Pair of jibs (coppia di falconi)
At the lower right a triangular linkage is drawn, captioned as a pair of falconi or jibs. It shows the paired arms that would carry and pivot the excavating load.
