Two studies of a tree's ramification fill the right of the leaf. In the first, widening arcs cross the branches at successive degrees marked iK, gh, ef, cd and ab, illustrating the note that the branches of a given year, added together, have the same total cross-section as the trunk, and that this holds at every level unless the tree is deformed. In the second, the crown is enclosed in a circle and the branches are shown radiating from and directed toward the center, m, of the tree.
