The holding institution's catalogue records the sheet as "Vecchio seduto visto di profilo," dated ca. 1495 and attributed to the circle of Leonardo da Vinci. No writing appears on the sheet.

The bald, deeply lined head is turned in right profile, with a firm-set mouth and a sagging, aged throat. Below the shoulders a voluminous robe is worked up in soft parallel hatching, falling in broad folds across the seated figure's lap and knees. The face and drapery are the sole subjects of the sheet.
