A red-chalk bust of a young woman wearing a wound cloth headdress, her low-necked garment slipping from one shoulder and her gaze turned down and to one side with a faint smile. The institution's catalogue records the sheet as "Busto di giovane donna con larga scollatura," dated ca. 1500-1550 and attributed to the school of Leonardo da Vinci. No writing is present.

The woman is shown to just below the bust, her head wrapped in a soft twisted cloth that falls beside the face. She looks slightly downward with a gentle smile, and the wide, open neckline exposes the shoulder and upper chest, which are modelled in loose red-chalk hatching. A hatched ground fills the space behind the figure.
