Caricatured busts numbered in the upper corners
The page presents four small pen-and-ink grotesque busts numbered 5 to 8 in the upper corners of their sheets. Each caricatures age or deformity through jutting jaws, sunken mouths, oversized noses and assorted caps or headdresses. They are studies of human physiognomy shown mainly in profile, and carry no accompanying text.

Grotesque in a tall pointed cap (no. 5)
A bust faces right wearing a tall pointed cap. The profile has a jutting chin and protruding lower lip, and the shoulders are draped in a plain garment.
Laughing grotesque in a headscarf (no. 6)
A grinning grotesque faces left with mouth wide open, the head bound in a knotted scarf or headdress. The nose is hooked and the brow deeply furrowed above a heavy neck.
Long-chinned grotesque profile (no. 7)
A bust faces right with an exaggerated, elongated jaw and thrust-out chin. The hair is combed back over the head and the shoulders are lightly indicated.
Bulbous-nosed grotesque in a soft cap (no. 8)
A three-quarter bust faces left with a greatly swollen, bulbous nose and pouched cheeks beneath a soft cap. The features are among the most exaggerated on the sheet.
