Grotesque Heads: Four Caricatured Busts (nos. 25-28)
Four capped and exaggerated profile heads mounted in a grid
Four independent head studies fill a two-by-two grid, each numbered in ink in its upper corner (25, 26, 27, 28). All are grotesque profile busts of men, three of them wearing distinctive caps, drawn with hooked noses and jutting chins. The three upper heads are lighter, sketchier outlines while the fourth is more fully worked. No text accompanies the drawings apart from the plate numerals.

Man in a close skullcap (no. 25)
The upper-left panel shows a lightly drawn profile bust facing left of a man in a snug skullcap. His strongly hooked nose and forward chin almost meet across the sunken mouth.
Man in a tall pointed cap (no. 26)
The upper-right panel is a profile bust facing right of a man in a tall, folded pointed cap over a buttoned collar. The bulbous nose and receding chin are drawn in a spare, open outline.
Man in a large latticed cap (no. 27)
The lower-left panel shows a profile bust facing left of a man in a large soft cap with a lattice-patterned band. His prominent nose and jutting chin frame a small, drawn-in mouth.
Curly-headed man with apish mouth (no. 28)
The lower-right panel is a more fully modeled profile bust facing left of a man crowned with a dense mass of tight curls. His protruding lips and heavy jaw give the face an apish, brutish cast.
