Bust of a Man in a Tall Cap, in Right Profile
A pen study of a man in a tall pointed cap, a rod resting across his shoulder
A small pen-and-ink study, foxed and faded, shows the head and shoulders of a man wearing a tall pointed cap and seen in right profile, with a long rod or staff laid across his shoulder. The sheet is laid down within an elaborate collector's mount of blue and brown washes, ruled with fine borders. Beneath the drawing the mount carries an old handwritten attribution to Leonardo and a collector's mark; these belong to the mount, not to the artist's own hand, and are not transcribed here.

Man in a tall pointed cap, in profile
The bust of a man is drawn in fine pen, turned in right profile. He wears a tall, tapering cap that rises well above the crown of the head, and a long straight rod or staff crosses diagonally behind his shoulder. The outlines are light and the paper spotted with age.
