Studies of a Horse's Head, a Bird and a Youthful Head
A study sheet with a horse in profile, a crested bird's head and a capped young head, plus fainter sketches
This study sheet gathers several motifs in pale silverpoint or metalpoint on prepared paper. At the upper left is a horse's head in profile; at the upper right a crested bird's head with a curving beak; and at the lower center the head of a youth wearing a close-fitting cap, gazing downward. Further faint sketches, including additional animal and structural lines, are only lightly indicated. No transcribed text accompanies the drawings, though faint marks at the top may include untranscribed notation.

Head of a youth in a cap
At the lower center a young head with soft, rounded features wears a close-fitting banded cap. The face is turned slightly and the eyes are lowered. The modelling is delicate and lightly hatched.
Horse's head and crested bird
The upper left of the sheet carries a horse's head in profile, alert with pricked ears and open nostril. To the upper right is the head of a crested bird with a curving beak and plumed crest. Both are drawn swiftly in fine line.
