Study of a Horse and Rider
A powerfully modelled horse turned toward the viewer with a lightly sketched rider
A single sheet dominated by a horse turned three-quarters toward the viewer, its head lowered and one foreleg raised as if stepping forward. Behind and above the animal a rider is sketched much more faintly, seated on its back with one arm reaching down. The horse's head, neck and chest are worked up in fine parallel hatching, while the hindquarters and the rider are left only lightly indicated. A small collector's monogram is visible at the lower right.

Horse turned toward the viewer in movement
The horse fills the sheet, seen almost frontally with its head dropped and a foreleg lifted. Its coat is modelled with dense, curving hatching across the neck, chest and flank, giving a strong sense of muscular bulk and forward motion.
Lightly sketched mounted rider
A human figure is drawn faintly behind and above the horse's shoulders, apparently seated on its back. The rider is only summarily outlined, with one arm extended downward, and the pose is left unfinished.
