Rubbed Chalk Verso with Faint Child's Head
Heavily offset back of the Virgin and Child sheet
The verso is covered by broad, smeared passages of black chalk, much of it offset and rubbed from handling and from contact with the recto. Amid the diagonal strokes a faint child's head can be made out low on the sheet, but the surface is otherwise too abraded to read clearly.

Toward the lower center a small child's face emerges from the rubbed chalk, its rounded cheek and downturned features barely legible. The rest of the sheet is filled with broad diagonal smearing and offset marks rather than a defined drawing. The figure is too indistinct to interpret with confidence.
