Seated figures in a wooded landscape
Graphite study of a figure group among trees, with distant buildings
A soft graphite drawing of a group of figures gathered in an open landscape: a seated central figure, apparently a woman with a child, is attended by a standing figure behind and further figures kneeling and seated to the sides. Trees, foliage and the outlines of distant buildings fill the setting behind them. A red studio stamp appears at the lower left and an inscription is written at the upper right; these are not transcribed here, and further untranscribed writing may be present.

Central seated group of figures
A seated female figure holding a child forms the core of the composition, with a standing figure leaning in from behind and further figures grouped around at the sides. The poses and draperies are lightly modelled in graphite. The study concentrates on the arrangement of the figure group.
Wooded setting with distant buildings
Trees rise behind and beside the figures, and the faint outlines of buildings and further foliage recede into the background. Loose hatching indicates ground and distant terrain. The landscape envelops the figure group.
