Studies of a Kneeling Figure and Playful Children
A draped kneeling man, with tumbling infants and a small winged putto
Pen and ink over faint chalk records two clusters of figures on an irregularly cut sheet. At the upper right a lean, draped man kneels with one arm thrown forward, his weight pitched low. Across the lower half a lively group of nude infants sprawls and tumbles, while a small winged putto hovers above a child with long, loose hair. An oval collector's stamp is impressed near the lower edge.

Kneeling draped man
A gaunt figure kneels on one knee at the top of the sheet, drapery gathered about the hips and an arm extended outward. The pose is rapidly sketched in pen with searching contour lines. The body is turned and foreshortened as if caught mid-gesture.
Infants and winged putto
The lower register is filled with nude infants in playful, tumbling poses, drawn with rounded, energetic strokes. A small winged putto flies above a child whose hair streams behind. The group is studied for movement and interaction rather than as a finished composition.
