A pen-and-ink study shows the head of a horse seen almost frontally, the muzzle lowered toward the viewer and the mane falling in bold locks across the forehead. Lighter contours below sketch the neck and the beginnings of the forelegs. A collector's monogram stamp appears at the lower left of the sheet.

Horse's head seen from the front
The animal's head is drawn head-on with the muzzle dipped, so that the nostrils and mouth face the viewer. Heavy dark strokes render the forelock and mane, while fainter lines below indicate the neck and the suggestion of forelegs.
