Solid-geometry sketches, one figure marked 'excess'
A single leaf of solid-geometry sketches: tetrahedra and pyramids threaded with internal construction lines, a rectangular prism in perspective, a tall cone, and hemispheres and circles beside an ellipse. They belong to Leonardo's studies of transforming one solid into another, and a single word, 'excess' (eccesso), labels one figure. Further untranscribed marks accompany the drawings.

One of the solids is annotated with the single word 'excess' (eccesso). In these transformation studies such a label marks the surplus quantity left over when one solid is converted into another.
Tetrahedra, a prism and a cone
The right side of the leaf carries several small tetrahedra and pyramids crossed by internal lines, together with a rectangular prism in perspective. At left a gridded hemisphere and circles sit next to an ellipse, and a tall cone rises through the centre.
