A note at the upper right reads simply 'that cause,' while beside a lettered figure at the upper left Leonardo directs that a be filled with a bronze rod when the piece is cast. The right-hand page carries several faint technical drawings, among them a bracket or clamp, a sectioned mould, a geared or ratcheted wheel and crucible-like forms, evidently apparatus for founding. Additional untranscribed writing runs beside the figures. The whole shows through faintly under transmitted light.
