Mechanical sketch and calculations; facing leaf blank
Faint device and figures on 252v; folio 249r recorded as empty
The catalogue note records folio 249r, the right-hand leaf of this transmitted-light spread, as devoid of writing and figures. The facing leaf 252v, however, carries faint mirror-script and small pen sketches of a mechanism with a threaded vertical shaft and a winged cross-handle, together with short columns of numerals and fractions. These notes on 252v are not transcribed in the bundle. A British Museum crown stamp is impressed on the leaf.

Sketch of a threaded-shaft mechanism
Near the centre of the left leaf a vertical shaft carries a screw thread and a winged cross-handle, with smaller framed and rod-like elements beside it. The drawing suggests a screw-driven device. The lines are faint and no lettered labels are legible.
Columns of figures and fractions
To the right of the sketch stand short columns of numerals and fractions that appear to work through calculations. They accompany the mechanical drawing but are not included in the transcription.
