Shaded sphere on a verso devoid of writing
A large sphere modeled in soft chalk; the faint script across the sheet is show-through from the densely written recto.
A large sphere fills the left half of the sheet, rendered in soft black chalk with a graded passage from light to dark and irregular darker patches. The e-Leo record notes that this side was invisible before restoration and carries no writing of its own. The faint lines of script seen across the leaf are show-through from the densely written recto rather than text on this face. No transcription accompanies the page.

A sphere modeled in graded shading
A large disc or sphere occupies the left half of the leaf, worked in soft black chalk that shades from a lit edge into deep, irregular dark zones. As a study of light and shade falling on a rounded body it sits close to the treatise on shadow that runs through the neighbouring folios. The catalogue note records the side as blank of writing, so no text is attached to the drawing.
