Sighting notes, soldi-and-denari money columns and arithmetic on a much-worked sheet
A crowded working sheet dominated by columns of figures: money reckonings in soldi and denari, a reconstructed long division, and further calculations set down with the leaf turned on its shorter side. Altimetry taken with the sights

Columns of soldi and denari
Along the left margin runs a reckoning of money in soldi and denari, set beside long files of figures. It reads as a running account or tally of sums rather than a demonstration.
A reconstructed long division
A block of figures preserves what an editor has restored as a division sum, its erased digits supplied in brackets. Partial products and a remainder are laid out in the usual columnar form.
Calculations on the turned sheet
With the leaf turned on its shorter side, further grids of numbers are set down and worked through. They continue the arithmetic that covers the page.
Studies of a leaf and a flowering burr
At the centre of the sheet are careful pen studies of a serrated leaf and a small flowering or seed-bearing burr. These botanical sketches sit among the numbers but carry no accompanying text.
