Interlaced knot-work of star-rosettes and knotted medallions
An all-over decorative interlace; the leaf bears no writing
The sheet is filled edge to edge with an intricate interlace drawn faintly in metalpoint or lead: continuous bands loop and cross to weave a lattice of star-rosettes and knotted circular medallions. A curatorial note records only that the leaf bears no writing. The pattern is the sole content of the page.

All-over interlace of knots and rosettes
Continuous ribbon-like bands plait over and under one another to build a symmetrical field of eight-pointed star-rosettes and roundels bound by knotwork. The design is of the woven-knot type Leonardo returned to repeatedly, here covering the whole leaf without accompanying text.
