Ledger of credits, dates and sums for named parties, in another hand, on recycled paper
This side, invisible before restoration, carries not Leonardo's work but a leaf taken from a register of the Cathedral (Duomo) of Milan and reused as paper. The text is a book-keeping account of credits entered on numbered folios, with dates and sums in lire, soldi and denari owed for or by named parties such as Ambrogio Crivello, Matrogniano de Braschis, Alessandro de Castigliolo and Giorgio Grasso. The entries cross-reference other ledgers, including a green book of 1446, and close with a running total.

Cathedral ledger of credits and sums
The sheet lists successive credit entries keyed to folio numbers and dates, each recording a party and an amount in pounds, shillings and pence: for Johannes de Civate, Ambrogio Crivello, Matrogniano de Braschis and others, running from February through September. A running figure of 5023.12 appears among the totals.
