Drapery studies with a lattice truss and a mechanical plan

The upper half of the sheet holds several studies of billowing, deeply folded drapery, including one larger fold worked up in grey wash and smaller cloth studies at the right, with a faint spray of foliage at the left edge. The lower right carries mechanical drawings: an open lattice truss of crossed struts and, beneath it, a plan showing a fan- or semicircle-shaped element with fittings. The e-Leo catalogue lists the leaf as revealed only after restoration and records no transcribed text.

Studies of folded drapery
The upper portion gathers several studies of cloth caught in deep, curling folds, drawn in pen with hatched shading. One larger study near the centre is modelled in grey wash to bring out the mass of the fabric, while smaller folds are grouped at the upper right.
Lattice truss and mechanical plan
At the lower right an open truss is drawn as a run of crossed struts forming triangular bays, like a lightweight beam or girder. Directly below it a plan shows a fan- or semicircle-shaped element with small fittings, suggesting a hoist or geared device seen from above.
