An antique-style fireplace, with pavilions and a cube in perspective
A note in Melzi's hand explains a hearth with seating niches; the sheet is filled with perspective studies of solids.
Drawn in perspective, the sheet shows pyramidal, tent-like structures rising from rectangular bases, a transparent (wireframe) cube at the upper right, and several smaller pointed-roof structures below. A note added in the lower half in the hand of Francesco Melzi explains one design as a 'fireplace in the antique manner': the niches a, b, c are seats where men sat, the fire stood in a circle at the centre, and the niches were set in the space between two walls. Most of the drawings are not covered by the transcription.
