Separate rollers stretch cloth of varying lengths, raised with teasels at A and B
A large perspective drawing fills the sheet with a cloth-finishing machine: a long frame carrying a series of rollers and, at the left end, a big toothed driving wheel. Each roller that holds the stretched cloth is made separate (a b c d e) so that cloths of various lengths can be tentered at various distances, the first motion coming from a single-piece roller R O. Teasels (garzi, or cards) at A and B raise the nap of the cloth, and a small drawing of teasels appears at the lower right.

Each roller that holds the stretched cloth upon itself must be separate, that is a b c d e, so that cloths of various lengths can be stretched at various distances. The wheel of the first motion is to be changed from the roller that is of a single piece, R O.
Teasels at A and B to raise the nap
A is the place under which the teasel or card stands; N is a place whose pole may serve as a wheel-handle when there is only one cloth or two, without other labour. This cloth requires two grades of teasels, one at A and the other at B.
