Faint Charcoal Sketches by Pupils (Verso)
Restored verso; pupil drawings continuing onto f.133v, with the recto plan showing through
Invisible before restoration, this verso carries only faint charcoal sketches which, according to the catalogue note, are the work of Leonardo's pupils and continue onto f.133v; they were traced while the two half-sheets were still joined and before Leonardo wrote on the recto. A tall cylindrical form on splayed legs and a softer shaded sketch are visible, together with the show-through of the recto's circular fortress plan. The subjects of the pupils' sketches are indistinct.

Pupils' faint charcoal sketches
The catalogue note attributes these charcoal drawings to Leonardo's pupils and links them to the studies on f.133v. What survives on this side is faint: a vertical cylindrical form standing on splayed legs at the centre, a soft shaded sketch at the upper right, and the ghost of the recto's ruled circular plan bleeding through the paper.
