Crossbow Release Mechanism and Lock Components
A trigger device 'correct in all measurements', with slender levers and a stock
The sheet lays out components of a crossbow's release: at upper centre a boxed trigger mechanism (congegno di scatto) drawn in perspective, flanked by long slender levers and a rack, and at the right a shaped crossbow stock with its lock fittings. Leonardo notes that the device 'is correct in all its measurements' and heads the study 'Method of releasing'. The Codex Atlanticus catalogue also files geometric notes on this sheet — a Euclidean reference (XII.2) and problems of dividing a segment into five parts and dividing by sixty.

The release device and its measurements
A boxed trigger mechanism is drawn at the top with slender lever arms and a rack laid out below it. Leonardo captions it 'this is correct in all measurements' and titles the study 'method of releasing'.
Crossbow stock and lock
At the right the crossbow's shaped stock is drawn with its lock fittings and catch, complementing the release parts studied across the rest of the sheet.
