The upper fragment shows a tall trestle throwing engine whose winding wheel is inscribed 4000 and labelled the wheel of the trebuchet, beside a bracketed platform where a man swings a mallet over a rack of long shafts; a note calls such instruments cimitrilla. The lower fragment, recorded as without writing, shows a machine built on a heavy timber bed with a large bow-like arc spanning between toothed wheels and a chain hanging beneath.

A tall trestle engine carries a long throwing arm ending in a scoop; the large spoked wheel at its foot is inscribed 4000 and noted as the wheel of the trebuchet. The wheel serves to arm or wind the machine.
