Crossbow lock, trigger and forked rest
Mechanism for spanning and releasing a crossbow, with a supporting fork
Pen studies of the working parts of a crossbow: a trigger piece where the string is released, a forked rest that supports the weapon, and a lettered lock in which a stirrup, nut, lunette and cord are named. The accompanying note describes the loading sequence, engaging the stirrup c in the nut, taking up with the lunette a at the shoulders b n, and then delivering the cord onto the nut.

Crossbow lock and loading sequence
The device is labelled a, n, b (the crossbow, balestro) and c (the cord). When the stirrup c has entered the nut, one takes up again with the lunette a at the shoulders b n, and then sends the cord onto the nut.
Trigger piece (acciarino)
A small mechanism is drawn where, as the note says, the release is made to happen, the point at which the crossbow shoots.
Forked rest
A fork is drawn, noted as serving to support the crossbow.
