A large ruled figure of squares and radiating lines, columns of numbers, a memorandum list and a sketched spring
The upper half of the sheet is dominated by a large ruled construction: a square crossed by a fan of straight lines drawn from one corner together with a sweeping curve and lettered points; much of its accompanying prose is not included in the transcription. Below and around it run columns of figures, including a series of squares (4-16-36-64) and larger sums such as 213000 and 12000, drawn beams marked with numbers, and a small square study. A brief right-hand memorandum lists 'Locks, Barber, Little book', and a separate note labels a drawing of a spring.

Large ruled construction of squares, radiating lines and a curve

Columns of numbers and a series of squares
To the left stands a column including the series 4-16-36-64 (the squares of 2, 4, 6, 8) with the sums 64, 16 and 80. Other groups below give 81 and large figures such as 213000 and 12000.
Sketch of a spring
A small drawing on the sheet is labelled simply 'a spring' (molla), one of several mechanical elements Leonardo notes among the calculations.
Memorandum: locks, barber, notebook
A short list at the right reads 'Locks. Barber. Little book.' — a jotted reminder set among the numerical work.
