Four woven knot patterns with notes on reducing strip-portions into circles
Four intricate interlaced knot designs, woven bands forming square, cross-shaped and lozenge lattices, are drawn across the sheet in metalpoint and ink. In the upper-right corner a small cluster of geometric diagrams is accompanied by notes that these are portions of parallels, all to be reduced into circles, with one figure identified as a third part of a half-circle. Faint offset stars and lattices from the recto show through the paper below.

Woven interlace knot patterns
Four elaborate knots of continuously interwoven bands dominate the sheet, arranged as square and cross-shaped lattices of loops. They belong to Leonardo's studies of decorative interlace of the kind engraved as his knot patterns.
Strip-portions to be reduced into circles
The small figures in the upper right corner are described as portions of parallels, and they are all to be reduced into circles. The note ties these strip-shaped areas to Leonardo's circle-squaring exercises.
A third part of a half-circle
One circular segment bounded by two bases is labelled a third part of a half-circle, quantifying its area within the same program of comparing curved portions.
