Geared drum mechanism with crank and hanging weights
A pen mechanism drawn over a faint red-chalk building facade
In pen Leonardo draws a mechanical assembly built around a large spoked drum or wheel that is engaged by a toothed gearwheel and turned by a crank at its hub. A short cylinder sits beside the gearing while cords carry paired weights down toward a smaller cylinder and a wheel at the lower right. The e-Leo caption records that a building facade was first laid in with red chalk beneath the device, of which only faint construction lines survive. No transcribed text accompanies the drawing.

Drum, gearwheel and crank with suspended weights
A large spoked drum is engaged by a toothed gearwheel driven by a crank projecting from its hub. A short cylinder stands beside the gearing, and cords run down to paired weights, a smaller cylinder and a wheel at the lower right. The whole reads as a geared, weight-loaded mechanism.
Faint red-chalk building facade beneath
The caption notes that a facade of a building was first sketched in red chalk under the pen mechanism. Only faint straight construction lines now remain visible across the sheet, and the facade is not further described in any transcription.
