In red chalk Leonardo has drawn three spheres, the largest -- its upper edge broken by a jagged profile of mountains -- representing the earth, with a smaller quartered orb at upper right and a third small circle below. Down the left margin run columns of numbers, with a further group noted as written upside down. The e-Leo transcription records the numeral groups 98, 24, 72 and, inverted, 64, 50, 60, 75, 70, 44, 45, 46, 4542.

The largest of three spheres represents the earth, its upper contour broken by a jagged silhouette of mountains. A smaller circle divided by a cross sits at upper right and a third small circle lies below, sketching the earthly body among lesser orbs.
