In red chalk Leonardo lightly sketched a woman seated on a chair with a child held in her lap, the mother's head turned frontally and the infant gathered against her body. The drawing is a rapid compositional figure study; e-Leo supplies only the caption and no transcribed text. Faint chalk contours of the chair, legs and drapery are visible but carry no writing.
