In neat mirror script this leaf sets down two anatomical lists under the heading 'Anatomy'. The first enumerates the eleven 'simple members' of the body: cartilage, bones, nerves, veins, arteries, membranes, ligaments and tendons, skin, and flesh and fat. The second, headed 'Of the head', divides the head into ten parts, five containing (hair, scalp-skin, muscular flesh, the thick membrane and the cranium) and five contained (dura mater, pia mater, brain, the rete mirabile, and the bone at the base of the brain from which the nerves arise).

The ten parts of the head
The head is divided into ten parts, five containing and five contained. The containing are the hair, the scalp-skin, the muscular flesh, the thick membrane and the cranium; the contained are the dura mater, pia mater and brain, then the rete mirabile and the bone at the base of the brain from which the nerves spring.
