Faces changing with a man's emotions and toil
The whole body echoing the expression, beside a lettered construction
A short painting note at the top of the page treats the varieties of faces according to a man's states — in toil, rest, anger, weeping, laughter, shouting and fear — and insists that the limbs and the whole attitude of the body respond to the altered expression. Below it are lettered geometrical figures continuing the oval-squaring studies of the surrounding leaves, with a rectangle and diagonal and a small shaded triangle. A note at the foot, carried over from folio 73 recto, finishes a construction by raising a perpendicular m o at the point m.

Faces varying with fatigue, anger, weeping and fear
Leonardo lists the varieties of faces according to the states of man — in toil, in rest, in anger, in weeping, in laughter, in shouting, in fear and similar things. He adds that the limbs of the whole person, with the whole attitude, must respond to the altered expression.
Raising the perpendicular m o at the point m
A note carried over from folio 73 recto completes a construction: the result will be n m, and from the point m one raises the perpendicular m o. With that, Leonardo writes, the figure is done.
