A jest of the archpriest of Santa Maria del Monte at Varese
A facetious anecdote heading the sheet, above red-chalk studies of structural forms
The sheet is headed, in mirror script, by a facetia: a jest about the archpriest of Santa Maria del Monte, at Varese, who was sent as legate to the Duke in exchange for a sparrowhawk. Below are two red-chalk sketches of structural forms — at left a trestle-like support ending in a hook, at right an arched pier. Fainter lines of writing beneath the heading are not included in the transcription.

Jest of the archpriest of Santa Maria del Monte
A short facetious tale concerning the archpriest of Santa Maria del Monte, at Varese, who was sent as an envoy to the Duke in exchange for a sparrowhawk.
Red-chalk studies of structural supports
Two red-chalk drawings fill the lower half of the sheet: at left a trestle-like support terminating in a hook, at right an arched masonry pier with radiating members. No inscription in the transcription explains them.
