Changing measures of the body with movement and age
The index opens by announcing the various accidents and movements of man, and first how the measures of the body change as the limbs move and are seen from different aspects. It notes the changes in a man's measurements from birth to full growth, and how the joints of small children are proportioned opposite to those of men. These are chapters on body proportion for the painter.
Joints of fingers, shoulders and feet
Several entries treat the joints of the body: the joints of the fingers, the joints of the shoulders with their increases and diminutions, the joint of the hand with the arm, and the joints of the feet with their thickenings and thinnings. The list also covers the universal measures of bodies and the proportionality of the limbs.
Limbs that bend, and the nude in motion
The final chapters listed here describe how limbs diminish when they bend and grow when they extend, and how they thicken at the joints in bending. They close with the limbs of nude men and the powerful movements of the limbs of man.
