The single figure, weight-bearing and attitudes
The list opens with the single figure outside the narrative (istoria) and the principal matters that pertain to it, then the balancing of weight around a body's centre of gravity and figures that must handle or carry weights. It continues with the attitude of men, the variety of attitudes, the attitude of figures, and the attention of bystanders to a noteworthy event.
The quality of nudes and their muscles
A group of chapters treats the nude and its muscles: the quality of nudes, how muscular men are short and thick, how fat men do not have large muscles, and which muscles appear in the various movements of man. It advises not to render all the muscles on figures unless they are under great exertion.
Muscle, movement, and the concealment of bone
The closing entries state that a nude depicted with great prominence of muscles will appear without motion, and that nude figures should not have their muscles too much sought-out. They add that those who put on fatness gain much strength after their first youth, and note how nature strives to conceal the bones in animals as far as the necessity of their limbs allows.
