Colour studies of green pods and red fruit, alphabetic pen-trials, and geometric ground-plans
The upper half of the sheet carries colour studies painted directly on the vellum: several long green pods beside clusters of red cherries and a strawberry, with a large brown stain spreading over the same area. At the left are groups of ornamental alphabetic letters in cursive and capital forms, which read as decorative penmanship trials rather than words. Toward the centre and lower sheet are faint ornamental constructions in ink, including a square plan and a figure with circular perimeter expansions, together with a tall ornamental finial.

Colour study of pods and red fruit
The upper half of the sheet is painted in colour with several long green pods and clusters of red cherries and a strawberry. A large brown stain spreads across the same area. These are naturalistic colour studies of fruits and vegetables.
Pen-trials of ornamental letters
At the left are groups of ornamental alphabetic letters in both cursive and capital forms, such as y n m r i h m h m m s and rows of repeated K, g and other capitals. They appear to be decorative penmanship trials rather than words.
Ornamental plan constructions
Below the centre are faint ornamental constructions: a square plan, others setting an octagon within a square, and a final figure with circular expansions around its perimeter, marked a. A tall ornamental finial is drawn among them.
