Elevation and diamond plan of a church, with a lever machine for a heated mould
The sheet pairs architecture with mechanism. At the top are three mechanical joints; below, a centrally-planned church is given in three-quarter elevation and as a diamond-shaped Latin-cross plan crowded with domes. The long note at the lower right describes a lever machine for a heated casting mould, in which a 'female' lever m (carrying a 'child' inside) is exchanged with a second lever n; the box must not be moved until it glows red-hot, and an iron a set between form and iron helps b to heat.

Centralized church: elevation and diamond plan
A domed, centrally-planned church is drawn in three-quarter elevation at the left, its central dome ringed by lesser domes. At the right its plan is set as a diamond, a Latin-cross scheme crowded with round chapels.
Three mechanical joints
Along the top of the sheet are three small studies of mechanical joints. They are sketched in outline above the architectural drawings.
Lever machine with interchangeable levers m and n
The long note describes shifting the lever m into the space between S and n, because if g touched h the box would meet the wall and m could not stay inside. The 'female' lever m carries a 'child' within, and is exchanged with the female n once n has drawn far enough from its companion.
Keeping the mould red-hot
Leonardo warns not to move the box until it appears somewhat red-hot (infocata), the corner beneath g touching the two faces of g that face it. An iron a set between the form (mould) and the iron helps b to heat better, and one dismounts once this is done.
