Five Regular Solids: Why a Cube Rolls More Than a Pyramid

He concludes that the pyramid, being of slower motion, should have been the solid assigned to earth.

Why the cube rolls more readily than the tetrahedron
Rolling on a level plane, the pyramid must turn a third of its quantity to fall onto its next side, whereas the cube turns only a quarter of its circuit to bring a new face down as its base. The more faces a solid has, the closer it approaches a sphere and the more easily it moves; Leonardo concludes the tetrahedron is of slower motion than the cube and so should have been assigned to earth.
