The heavily stained closing leaf carries a pen sketch of an extensible scissor-linkage mechanism (lazy tongs) crowned by a cylindrical roller and resting on a small footing, with short labels written at points beneath it. Several lines of Leonardo's mirror-script appear above the drawing but are not transcribed in this edition. The leaf bears the circular stamp of the Bibliotheque de l'Institut de France and shows extensive water-staining and edge damage.
