Elements of the folding wooden pavilion of Vigevano
A collapsible tent's walls and corner joints, with a question on channel width and flow
Red-chalk sketches work out parts of a collapsible wooden pavilion built at Vigevano: the folding of a wall panel, the jointed framing members, and the angle of a corner, annotated with the proportions 1/4, 3/4 and 1/8. Set among these construction studies is a separate hydraulic question: given a channel divided lengthwise into equal reaches a-b, if two bodies of water have the same slope and depth but one is a hundred times wider, which will flow faster? The drawings are faint, but the linkage of pivoted members is legible.

Which water flows faster: equal depth, hundredfold width (a, b)
A channel is divided along its length into reaches a-b, a-b. If water b has the same slope and depth as water a, Leonardo asks which will move faster, given that they are of equal depth but one is a hundred times wider than the other.
