Drawn in red chalk and oriented upside down, the sheet pairs two unrelated studies. The upper band is a decorated belt or girdle whose clasp carries a Greek-key (meander) ornament. Below it is a mechanical device built around a central shaft wound with a helical coil or toothed rod, flanked by a small circle divided by a cross and a few faint construction lines.

Decorated belt with Greek-key ornament
A long, slightly curved girdle or belt is shaded across the sheet's upper zone. Its central buckle or clasp is filled with an interlocking meander pattern and finished with small leaf-like flourishes at each end.
Shaft with helical coil and toothed rod
A vertical shaft carries a tightly wound helical coil or rack of teeth and terminates below in two disc-like collars. A small circle marked with a cross and a bracket of straight lines sit to either side, suggesting a mechanical device with a toothed rod.
